Inspirada en el clásico libro homónimo del poeta, pintor y novelista Kahlil Gibran, El Profeta es una película de animación que rinde homenaje a diversos poemas de dicho autor, conformada por "capítulos" de diferentes directores de animación internacionales. La historia tiene lugar en la isla imaginaria de Orfales, donde se tejerá una amistad fuera de lo común entre Almitra, una niña de 8 años, y Mustafá, preso político sujeto a arresto domiciliario.
